Willamette View updates campus with sustainable Balcony Homes
Older adults have a new senior housing option overlooking the Willamette River. Willamette View, a not-for-profit fully accredited and state registered Life Plan or Continuing Care Retirement Community, has embarked on an ambitious construction plan to update existing buildings. They’re working to meet the preferences of today’s seniors for good sized apartment-homes with full amenities.
Willamette View’s new Balcony Homes, situated between the water gardens to the south and river to the west, are the most recent part of the 27-acre campus to be renewed. The new pet-friendly apartment-homes are conveniently located near a variety of amenities, including the Fitness Center, art studio, tennis court, resident gardens and the White Oak Grill, one of three dining venues on campus.
“Our customers have been requesting well-appointed pet-friendly residences with private balconies and we’ve responded by introducing the new Balcony Homes,” said Mark Hollis, Director of Sales at Willamette View.
When designing these apartment-homes, Willamette View took care to plan for the needs of today and tomorrow. They included sustainable, energy-efficient features wherever possible, including high-efficiency windows, LED lighting, Energy Star rated appliances, high-performance insulation and durable exterior cladding.
“All these energy improvements and green features allowed us to reduce the load on the mechanical systems so they can be more efficient and use less energy,” said Andre DeBar, senior associate at Opsis Architecture LLP, who helped design the remodel.
There are 12 new Balcony Homes, including four 868-square-feet one bedrooms, four 1,135-square-feet two bedrooms and four 1,788-square-feet two bedrooms.
These new apartment-homes are to be completed by the end of this year with some as early as November 15.
Interested seniors have the option to stay as a guest at Willamette View for a few nights to tour the campus and see for themselves how it’s constantly improving.
